Certification services

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, scoped to your sites and your sector

EdelCert International certifies management systems against ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. Each audit is sized with the IAF MD 5 methodology to your organisation's sites, activities and headcount, and quoted as a fixed number of audit days in writing.

In short: we certify ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) for construction, transport and logistics organisations. IAS accreditation in process; our scope and status are published on the accreditation page.

ISO 9001:2015 certification

Quality management

ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. Certification shows customers, principals and regulators that your organisation plans its processes, controls its risks, measures its results and improves on them. In construction and logistics it is increasingly a condition of tender.

Who it is for

Any organisation, from a 20-person contractor to a multi-site logistics group, that needs to demonstrate it consistently delivers products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

What we look at

  • Leadership commitment and quality policy
  • Risk-based process planning and objectives
  • Operational control across your delivery chain and subcontractors
  • Customer feedback, measurement, internal audit and management review
  • Evidence of continual improvement

Typical audit cycle

  • Stage 1: documentation and readiness review
  • Stage 2: on-site initial certification audit
  • Surveillance audits: years 1 and 2
  • Recertification audit: year 3

Duration and cost

Audit days are calculated per IAF MD 5 from headcount, site count and process complexity, and set out in your offer before you commit. No hidden day rates.

ISO 14001:2015 certification

Environmental management

ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems. Certification demonstrates that environmental impacts, from fuel and waste to water and noise, are identified, controlled and actively reduced, and that legal obligations are tracked and met. It carries real weight with municipalities, mining principals and multinational customers.

Who it is for

Organisations that need to show customers, regulators and communities that environmental risk is managed systematically: construction and civil works, fleet and warehousing operators, and anyone operating under environmental authorisations.

What we look at

  • Environmental policy and life-cycle perspective
  • Legal and compliance obligations register
  • Operational controls for significant environmental aspects
  • Emergency preparedness and response
  • Monitoring, measurement and management review

Typical audit cycle

  • Stage 1: documentation and readiness review
  • Stage 2: on-site initial certification audit
  • Surveillance audits: years 1 and 2
  • Recertification audit: year 3

Combined audits

Already certified to ISO 9001? Most clients run their 14001 audit alongside their 9001 surveillance as an integrated audit to reduce disruption and cost.

The certification process

What happens between your enquiry and your certificate

The same sequence for every client, with the dates and the audit team confirmed in advance.

  1. 01

    Enquiry and offer

You tell us your standard, sites and headcount. We calculate audit days per IAF MD 5 and send a fixed written offer.

  2. 02

    Stage 1 readiness review

We review your documented system, confirm the scope and flag anything that would stop Stage 2 going ahead.

  3. 03

    Stage 2 on-site audit

Interviews, records and observation across your processes. Findings are recorded against the clause and the evidence, and discussed with you at the closing meeting.

  4. 04

    Decision, certificate, surveillance

An independent decision-maker reviews the file. Your certificate runs three years with annual surveillance and a recertification audit in year three.

Why EdelCert

What is different about how we audit

Strict independence

Lead auditors are never the certification decision-maker. Every assignment is checked against a conflict-of-interest register before it is confirmed.

Evidence you can see

Findings are traceable to the clause, the sample and the date they were observed, not a generic checklist. Ask for the trail and you get it.

Sector focus

Our scope is construction and transport, storage and communication, so audits are planned around how those sites actually operate, across multiple locations where needed.

FAQ

Certification questions, answered directly

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 of a certification audit?

Stage 1 is a readiness review of your documented management system, usually one day, which confirms scope, site readiness and any gaps before the main audit. Stage 2 is the on-site audit of the system in practice: interviews, records, observations and sampling across your processes. Both are required for initial certification.

How many audit days will my ISO 9001 certification need?

Audit time is calculated with IAF MD 5 from your effective headcount, the number of sites and the complexity of your processes. As an indication, the IAF MD 5 table gives a single-site organisation of 46 to 65 employees around seven auditor days for the initial certification (Stage 1 plus Stage 2) of a quality management system, before adjustments for complexity. We state the exact number in your offer.

Can ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 be audited together?

Yes. An integrated audit covers both standards in one visit, shares the common clauses (context, leadership, planning, support, performance evaluation and improvement) and usually reduces total audit days and disruption compared with two separate audits.

What happens if the auditor finds a non-conformity?

A minor non-conformity requires a corrective action plan, reviewed and accepted before certification. A major non-conformity must be corrected and verified, sometimes with a follow-up visit, before a certificate can be issued. Every finding is written against the specific clause and the evidence observed, so you always know exactly what to fix.

How long is an ISO certificate valid?

Three years. Surveillance audits in years one and two confirm the system is maintained, and a recertification audit in year three renews it for the next cycle.

Does EdelCert International also provide consulting or help us write the system?

No. ISO/IEC 17021-1 prohibits a certification body from consulting for the organisations it certifies, and we keep to that strictly. We can point you to readiness guides and explain what we will look for, but we do not design or document your management system.
