Terms you will meet during certification

Certification body (CB)
An organisation, like EdelCert International, that audits management systems and issues certificates against standards such as ISO 9001.
Accreditation body (AB)
An organisation, like IAS, that assesses certification bodies against ISO/IEC 17021-1 and authorises them to issue accredited certificates.

IAF MD 5
The mandatory document that sets how audit time is calculated from headcount, sites and complexity.
Stage 1 / Stage 2

Non-conformity (minor / major)
A failure to meet a requirement of the standard. Minor: isolated, corrective plan required. Major: systemic or serious, must be corrected and verified before certification.
